The Gospel Is
The Opposite Of
Depraved Indifference

“Rescue any who need to be saved
As you would rescue someone from a fire.
Then with fear in your own hearts
Have mercy on everyone who needs it.”
Jude 1:23

DepravedIndifference As a young boy, I saw a car with an old man and lady that had stopped too close to a railroad crossing. As the locomotive passed it caught the front bumper and the car was flipped upside down, trapping the couple inside.

All of us in the crowd stood stunned & watching, but did nothing even as the couple yelled for help. Years later, I always asked myself, “Why didn’t I (then as a Boy Scout, taught to always help others) DO SOMETHING?!?

Sharing the Gospel is really no different than rescuing someone from physical death because all that are not saved are in danger of spiritual death. Therefore it is our urgent obligation to help rescue people and not standby or walk away! In civil law this is called 'Depraved Indifference,' that is if you purposely ignore saving someone in a matter of life and death situation, you can be prosecuted for negligence.

As today’s Bible verse says, as Christians we must have the utmost urgency to share the Gospel to as many people as possible warning them of the reality of the future possibilities of their souls after death. We are compelled to do so as a matter of consciousness, duty, and love for others.

Friend, this is serious.

ETERNITY IS A MATTER OF LIFE or DEATH. This is why with heartfelt and earnest fear we must share the Gospel as far and wide as we can, regardless of ridicule, opposition or rejection by people just as the Apostle Paul exhorted us:

“For the love of Christ constraineth us;
Because we thus judge, that if one died for all,
Then were all dead.
And that he died for all, that they which live
should not henceforth live unto themselves,
but unto him which died for them, and rose again.”
1 Corinthians 5:14-15
