From 1789 when George Washington introduced Thanksgiving as a National holiday to President Truman, who first pardoned the turkey at the White House Thanksgiving dinner, it’s been a Presidential and American tradition ever since! Add to that great meals and the aroma of pumpkin pie, homemade rolls, and apple cider next to a warm, cozy fire and it is easy to feel extremely blessed especially when surrounded by those we love.
But there is such a deeper, richer meaning to this special time of year, so let’’s all take a moment and think...“What are YOU thankful for right now?” and reflect and ask yourself, “ What does Thanksgiving mean to ME?”
Ponder what it really means to be thankful and grateful not only for your life, but for those you love and cherish. For the home you live in, the things around you that bless your life, and for the privilege to be born in this country – America – The Home of the Free and the Brave. We all have so much more than literally billions of people for this and many other things!
When the food has long been enjoyed and friends and family depart, at heart this day is all about a “Spirit of Thankfulness” that at the root is the love God has for us and given us the greatest thing to be thankful for more than family, home, or country - “His Holy Spirit and our Salvation.” If you have not accepted Christ, He wants to give you the most precious thing to be thankful for, far beyond, food, family, or fun, and that is ETERNAL LIFE.
No matter where you are in life, Pastor Wayne and I are here
