How Deep Are
Your Roots?

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith
(being) rooted and grounded in (His) love.”

Ephesians 3:17-19

Have you honestly asked yourself, “How deep are MY roots in MY love for God?” Do you spend time with Him in prayer, talk to Him in while in your car, in the shower, doing the dishes, or taking a walk? Do you read His Word the Bible and study and ponder it? Do you include Him in everything you say and do? If not, it is important and He wants you to! Here’s why...

Watching trees in a heavy storm are a great example of the importance of being rooted and grounded. When storms arise and winds blow violently the trees sway back and forth – but the ones with deep roots and strong bodies remain standing. Just like a hurricane or tornado, life also can bring us volatile, unpredictable storms, and when the winds of adversity come and go can you bend with them and not fall?

When you read the following scripture, realize that Jesus is our Root. Without being grounded in Him your roots will not grow nor will you be able to withstand the trials and tribulations that life may bring your way. When grounded in Christ you won’t be tossed like the wind, but will have a sure and strong foundation:

“Some (seed that was planted)fell on
(shallow) stony places where there was little soil,
and they immediately sprang up because they had
no depth into the earth. But when the sun was up
they were scorched because they had
no root and withered away.”
Matthew 13:5-6

“Then Christ will make His home in your heart
as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down
into God’s love and keep you strong.”
Ephesians 3:17

God is calling us to live a holy life and He wants us to know that we can live it in full JOY when rooted in Jesus, as the Apostle Paul wrote:

“For if the first fruit is holy,
the lump is also holy: and if the root is holy,
so are the branches. ”
Romans 11:16

My friend, know Christ and have your roots in Him, and he can and will give you a strong foundation to face no matter what storms life throws at you. If you have not done this, please pray this prayer right now:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Search me and Show me where I have put my roots.
Pull up any rotted ones, because I want my roots to be strong.
I want to grow my roots in your love and in your Word.
I want to know you as my Lord and my Savior.
Please forgive me for all of my sins and
accept me as your child. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

God Bless Your Day
