The Difference Between
Prayer & Meditation

“Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord,
my strength and my redeemer.”

Psalm 19:14

There may be some misunderstanding about prayer and meditation, so let’s get a clearer understanding between the two.

First, it’s interesting to note that both prayer and meditation go hand in hand. Prayer is when we come to the Lord with our requests and meditation is when the Lord speaks to us in our hearts. He knows that our minds are active and it is hard for us to settle our thoughts. This is why God says in Psalm 40:10, “Be still and know that I AM God.” It is when we are quiet and still in God’s presence that the Holy Spirit will reveal to us the guidance and direction we need. Being still takes time to master, but with practice you will long to experience the presence of God more than anything.

One of my most beautiful and meditative scriptures written by Apostle Paul says,

“Finally, brethren, Whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things lovely,
whatever things are of a good report,
if there is any virtue, and if anything praiseworthy,
meditate on these things.”

Philippians 4:8

My friend, remember to always come to the Lord in prayer for all your requests, no matter how large or how small. Everything that concerns you, your Father in heaven cares about. Listen to His voice speak to you and read His holy Word. Meditate on what He is whispering to you and receive His priceless wisdom and peace. Your Father in heaven knows exactly what you need at all times and the best way to help you. Trust Him with all your heart.
