How To Idle Your Anxiety

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect (mature) work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1:2-4

Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears! God has all the answers for us if we will simply ask Him - but the hard part is being patient for it. When we become anxious or impatient, it is like driving around the block in frustration over and over again looking for the right destination. The answer may not be obvious, come quickly, or not look like what we thought it would be, but it will come.

So before we get the answer, what DO we do in the mean time?!? The answer is to depend on Him in faith – because there always will be an answer, however in a high tech world of instant everything, this is contrary to our experience, but God answers prayer in His Way in His Time. The King James Bible uses the word “longsuffering” for what we call “patience”, and that is often what it feels like! When the answer comes quickly in minutes, hours or days it is mostly bearable, but sometimes it takes years but our human nature wants it all NOW. Practicing the godly practice of patience will save you a lot of frustration.

Know that God is a Faithful and Good God and while in that state of trials and “longsuffering” he is percolating up good inside of you. Wait for Him and he will keep your ‘motor running’ smoothly as promised in Psalm 27:14 -

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the LORD.”
