Better Than Your
Cellphone Flashlight

“I am the light of the world:
he that followeth me
shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life.”

John 8:12

We have all been in a dark place when we wish we had light. In a dark room it is always easier to walk towards or with light than away from it. As it is in the physical world, so it is in the spiritual world, but sadly most people choose the latter. Why is that?

Jesus answers that very clearly in this passage:

“Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.”
John 3:19-21

You see, our natural sinful human nature does not really want to do God’s Good but what WE think is good. Our inclination is to make or follow our own light like a sadly popular current phase, You have to speak your own truth. Hear again the Bible tells us that Jesus is “The Way, The Truth, and The LIGHT” (John 14:6) We are not the light or the source of it.

The popular singer James Taylor has a profound verse in one of his songs that says “You don’t get no light from a TV screen” Add tablet, computer or cellphone to that and that is exactly the darkness in which most people are walking.

Are you Walking in Darkness or in THE LIGHT?
