Are You A Rescuer?

“[Strive to] save others, snatching [them] out of [the] fire;”

Jude 1:23 (Amplified Bible)

There are many brave people in our society whose sole job is to save people.

Fireman rush into burning buildings and literally snatch people out of flames to safety, the Coast Guard snatches people out of treacherous waters and sinking ships, EMTs reach people at the point of life threatening injuries or sickness and keep the hand of death from snatching them away. We have much to be grateful to those who are rescuers.

But are you a resucuer?

When we accept Christ as LORD and Saviour, we are literally rescued from being snatched away into eternal death. As today’s scripture verse reminds us, we need to return this urgent act of bravery to others, just like it may have been extended to you.

If someone in your life helped lead you to Christ and helped rescue your from the fire, pray and thank God for that person right now - then go out and return the favor to someone else as commanded in Jude. We all need to be rescued - and we all need to be resucuers.
