The great Catholic saint, St. Francis of Assisi said,
“Preach the gospel at all times,
and if necessary, use words.”
Over the centuries, Christians and the Church
in the name of Christ have selflessly acted as
source of charity
to those in need through selfishly helping the poor,
building hospitals, schools and orphanages.
This work carries on today worldwide by many
loving people that selflessly dedicate their lives
to helping others in a variety of ways.
While a person’s ultimate eternal need is the
salvation of their soul, we are compelled to also meet
the immediate needs of people for food, shelter,
clothing, distress in health, or lack of family.
Showing indifference to those in need – as today’s
scripture verse says – is an affront to God.
As such we must always consider those in need and be
generous in our support.
Friend, we can preach the Gospel in many ways,
and as the Apostle Paul said in First Corinthians chapter twelve,
while we are all members of one body in Christ,
we all have a different role in serving and purpose.
As God has called you, serve Him and others
through the gifts you have been given!
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
-Jesus Christ
